ASUS Eee PC 1000HA
Mark: Good 1st, thanks to Ed Durrant and those who helped him put together the PDF package, "eComStation 2.0RC5 Installation to the ASUS EeePC 701 from a USB connected CD or DVD drive".
1st I used Gparted to delete three existing partitions and then shrink the WinXP partition. I then booted the eCS installation CD as described in the PDF package with a few changes.
I used eCS 2.0 RC6a and installed with Snap and did not swap out the Uniaud driver or the ACPI driver. I installed both of the temporary Genmac drivers and then removed both and only replaced the Wlan driver for vendor id 168C:001C. The Atlansic (Atheros) Gigabit on this Netbook is slightly different, vendor id 1969:1026 and does not work with the drivers in the PDF package.
So to conclude, I have Snap running at 800x600x16million colors, the Uniaud package from eCS 2.0 RC6a as well as the ACPI package. I have full sound support, both USB 1.1 and 2.0 working, the SD card reader works great, and ACPI will shut down and power off the system flawlessly.
This Netbook is fast with eCS and I have not experienced any connection loss with Genmac and Wlan.
I am one Happy camper with 7 hrs of battery life.

I am now experiencing Wlan connection loss. Re-configure TCPIP seems to start it again. I have even had experiences with the driver dropping out, but restarting the WPS brings it back. Genmac driver shares irq 11 with a USB driver.
On a better note, I installed ACPI 3.16 and the system boots and will even run in SMP mode, although it seems slower than in UNI mode and Wlan will not connect. | Keith Marjerison 2009-06-26 04:34:16 | I solved my Wlan connection loss problem. I uploaded some new files to the gmane.org.netlabs.genmac.user
forum. The post is titled "Genmac 2.20 and Asus EeePC 1000HA via eCS2.0 RC6a" and the instructions for altering the inf file for your 168cx001c wlan device are in the post.
Still have to get 1969x1026 Lan nic to work.
This is a great little netbook for running eCS.
