The installation of eCS 1.1 went pretty well, with a few minor bumps. The major disappointment is performance. I/O on the PCI bus consumes a dramatic number of interrupts. As an example, it is unable to pull more than 28mbs, single duplex, on a 100mps network card. At this point the interrupts hit 100%. I've tried multiple cards and this is the best I could get on the 2.26MHz P4 server. I consider this unacceptable for a server. Using the exact same card (and other cards) in my old 333MHz Dell Optiplex GXa server, full speed at full duplex was obtained without taxing the CPU or interrupts. Processor performance is mediocre as well. For most functions, my 1.4MHz AMD will match or beat it. The 400SC is well built for the money. It's reliable. It's dead silent (two years old now). It's disappointing.

"eCS 1.1" - i.e. desktop system? installed on server?
wtf "single duplex" ?
full duplex, half duplex and only now! new mode! - single duplex!
eCo Software was participating in the development of drivers:
ACPI - OS kernel, resources management, power management
Panorama VESA - universal video driver
JFS - boot feature implemented
Uniaud - initial support of HDAudio
USB - restore of source code
Ideas for the developers:
OS/2 and eComStation stay under mass barrage during the last 10 years: major part of reviews about the OS: Is it dead or not? We don't see technical reviews about advantages of the system. Let's write good reviews of eComStation together!
